TY - THES T1 - Nanoscale analysis of natural and artifical magnetic objects : particles, thin films and recording heads A1 - Wei,Jiandong Y1 - 2010/03/19 N2 - Biogenic and artificial magnetite nanoparticles and epitaxial magnetite thin films have been analyzed by magnetic force microscopy (MFM) and variations of MFM-based high frequency techniques. Influence of the dipolar interactions on the magnetic structures and properties of magnetite particles have been investigated. Clusters of magnetite particles from Salmon behave like permeable spheres. Magnetite particles in tissue slices have been successfully detected by MFM. Magnetic resonance force microscopy has been constructed with attempt to analyze biogenic magnetite particles. The influence of antiphase boundaries on the magnetic structures of magnetite thin films have been observed and studied. The performance of high-frequency MFM has been improved by super sharp tips and ferrite-coated tips.
