Zentrale, traditionelle Themen der Informationswissenschaft erhalten bei der Gestaltung und Nutzung von Informationssystemen im World Wide Web (WWW)
eine neue Bedeutung und neue Anwendungsgebiete: Gestaltung von Benutzungsschnittstellen, Benutzungs-, Bedarfs- und Systemanalyse, Usability Engineering and Testing, Wissensrepräsentation, Informationspräsentation. Die Herausforderungen des neuen Mediums WWW in Bezug auf diese traditionellen
Aufgaben werden anhand des Labeling, also der Benennung von Informationsobjekten
auf Webseiten, aufgezeigt.
Kurzfassung auf Englisch:
Central traditional topics of information science receive new meanings when designing and using information systems in the World-Wide Web: design of user interfaces; usage, requirements and systems analysis; usability testing and engineering; knowledge representation; information presentation. Some challenges of the new medium WWW with respect to these traditional questions are discussed with the example of labelling, i.e. the naming of information objects on web pages.
