Abstract: Altered intercellular communication is one of the molecular hallmarks of aging. Microvesicles carrying different kinds of molecules, like proteins and RNAs are important agents of short- and long-range communication in the body. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are especially interesting targets to study in this context, as these molecules can regulate multiple targets in the recipient cells via complementary base-pair binding and thereby regulate a complex process such as aging.
